I think Tom Muller has a point in his blog post Is the portfolio CMS the new black?

There does some to be an increasing number of accessible CMS systems geared at designers and creatives that make putting their portfolio online. I’ve been toying with what to use for my next update and will probably drop for either Wordpress or Textpattern as I’ve used them for jobs before and know how to use the code and systems to get what I want. But should I drop for something “cooler” like Cargo or Perch? . This blog is hosted on Tumblr which is quite “now” as far as blogs go but my reason for using it was purely for convenience rather than a status symbol. And that’ll probably be what informs my portfolio update choice…
